Eagle Insulation Supports Hope For Homes

At Eagle Insulation, we are taking part in the Hope For Homes Act by using Spray Foam that is installed by our second-chance contractors.

Going into Biden’s second year of Presidency, he has launched the Hope for Homes Act which, put simply, would help provide rebates for families so that they can afford energy-efficient products and train the energy efficiency workforce for the ever evolving needs.

Hope For Homes Is About Progress

The Hope For Homes Act is for people who are at risk of losing homes because of foreclosures, those who lack the ability to pay the mortgage, or other unforeseen circumstances. This program is completely voluntary on the part of the workers and homeowners. HOPE is actually a reference to the contract training program: Home Energy Performance-Based Contract Training (HOMES). HOMES is actually a reference to the Home Energy Savings Retrofit Rebate Program. In total, this act has gathered over $20 billion from stakeholders in order to put these programs in motion. The point of this act is to help American families make their homes more cost-effective, safer, and sustainable–like the literal definition of spray foam insulation.

Along with the Hope For Homes Act, Biden has revealed the Build Back Better Agenda which targets low-income households that unfortunately many times has to pick between eating, or heating–meaning are they gonna pay the heating bill, or have a meal? This agenda focuses on purchasing high-efficiency electric appliances and other equipment like heat pumps, HVACs, and water heaters which are all crucial to lowering the emissions and operating costs of homes and businesses. We can safely add spray foam insulation to that list, knowing that the benefits of spray foam insulation falls under that category of reducing carbon footprints.

On A Deeper Look, Hope For Homes Will …

  • Create rebates for homeowners to invest in energy efficiency improvements including:
    • $800 to add insulation to their home.
    • $1,500 for adding insulation and replacing part of their HVAC system.
    • $2,500 for adding insulation and the installation of an air source or ground source heat pump.
    • $2,000 for retrofits that lead to modeled or measured savings of 20-35% of whole-house or multifamily building energy use.
    • $4,000 for retrofits that lead to modeled or measured savings of 35% of whole-house or multifamily building energy use.
    • Doubling the rebate amount for moderate income families.
    • A rebate based on actual energy savings, per kilowatt hour, for homes and multifamily buildings that demonstrate measured energy savings of at least 15%.
    • An additional $200 rebate for each retrofit completed in an underserved community.
  • Authorize $500 million in grants to help develop training curriculums and assist companies in providing financial incentives to contractors to undertake online training to advance their capabilities to efficiently retrofit homes.
  • Provide $1,000 stipend to contractors who complete the HOPE training and are prepared to advance their careers and help homeowners with home retrofits.
  • Provide $1,000 per employee rehired, up to $10,000 total, to contracting companies willing to cover the costs of training and technology upgrades needed to achieve online learning.

Spray Foam: Sustainable, Affordable, Reliable

The first several bullet points above have to do with insulation–for good reason. The start to a sustainable, well-maintained home is the bones and the insulation of the building. The terms energy efficiency and sustainability go hand in hand when it comes to Eagle Insulation and installing spray foam insulation. We believe that it is possible to have energy efficiency in our buildings that also sustain the Earth. Energy retrofits means making modifications to already existing commercial or residential buildings as a way to improve the energy efficiency which can be achieved through the use of spray foam insulation. Properly insulating with spray foam insulation is the most direct way to positively impact your building’s carbon footprint. By reducing your daily energy consumption, these continued savings will not only pay back your install bill, but it will also bring value to your home. At Eagle Insulation, our employees are all properly trained and knowledgeable second-chance contractors.

Second-Chance Contractors

Going along with the theme of underserved communities, Eagle Insulation gives second chances not only to our customers and their homes, but to our employees. Approximately 70 million people, about ⅓ of U.S. working adults,  struggle with finding a well-paying job due to being screened out of a job because of a criminal record. When someone is released from prison, they’re thrown into the deep end. They’re expected to find work and support themselves as well as their families without batting an eye. But instead of helping these people rebuild their lives, too many employers do the opposite. An overall goal here at Eagle Insulation is to improve our community as a whole, whether that be by installing spray foam insulation, or providing a contracting job to a second-chance contractor.
